As  you may know, I was just named to the Crain’s Detroit Business 2016 class of 40 Under 40. It’s such a tremendous honor, I am overwhelmed.

As part of the awards program, Crain’s Detroit has teamed up with Crowdrise to give all of us an easy way to give back to the community. American Jewelry and Loan is so proud of our partnership with the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy–which is why I selected them my charity of choice.

I’m therefore reaching out to everyone I know to help me raise money for JRLA. Any amount you can give is appreciated and I will match your contribution dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000. This means that for every $1 you contribute to this campaign, I’ll write a check in that amount, doubling your donation.

Just click here to read my story on Crain’s and follow the link to donate–it takes under a minute. Please give what you can.

Here are some quick facts about the Jalen Rose Academy…

  1. JRLA is an open enrollment (tuition free), public charter high school on the northwest side of Detroit, located in the same zip code where Jalen Rose grew up and only steps away from American Jewelry and Loan.
  2. JRLA provides a leadership-focused education that engages and inspires youth to achieve at the rigorous level necessary to ultimately graduate with a college degree.
  3. JRLA is a 9-16 model where scholars are supported not only through high school graduation, but through college graduation via their College Success Team which includes an Alumni Coordinator.
  4. JRLA has graduated more than 95% of their scholars and 100% of those graduates were accepted to college, trade/technical school, or the military.

I hope you’ll join me in this opportunity to support this worthy cause! Learn more at www.jrladetroit.com.
